A thigh lift is a surgical procedure performed to remove excess skin, fat, and tissue from inner or outer thighs, or both. The procedure is often performed on women who have lost a substantial quantity of weight through weight loss surgery or dieting and exercise and are left with excess fat, skin and tissue in the thigh area.

Should I get a thigh lift?

It can be very distressing to be unable to reduce excess fat and skin on the upper thighs. Many women eventually choose to undergo a thigh lift to create a trimmer, more sculpted figure. Men and women who have had bariatric surgery and lost a great quantity of weight may be left with hanging skin and tissue in the thigh area that must be removed. If you are one of the many people who is tired of living with this condition, you may be a good candidate for a custom thigh lift.

What is the thigh lift procedure?

The procedure is performed under general anesthetic. It involves removing excess skin, fat, and tissue from the inner or outer thigh areas. Called “body contouring,” the procedure may involve liposuction as one part of the slimming procedure, along with the surgical removal of tissue and skin. This procedure may be part of a custom mommy makeover for mothers who were left with an excess of skin, fat, and tissue that diet and exercise cannot resolve. The procedure requires about two to three hours to perform.

What is the recovery after a thigh lift?

Every thigh lift is a custom procedure, and recovery times vary. As a general rule, you should expect to take two weeks off work, during which you can focus on healing. In the first ten days, your activities will be limited, and you must be very careful about the physical motions you make so that no stress is placed on the incisions. You will be wearing a compression garment to keep your newly-sculpted thighs stable during healing. It is normal to expect some swelling and bruising, which will fade in the weeks ahead. You will be restricted from lifting heavy objects, running, or jogging for up to eight weeks.

Thigh Lift FAQ's

How much does a thigh lift cost?

Each thigh lift is different, as each patient is different, but the cost of this body sculpting procedure starts at $12,000.

Will a thigh lift leave me with visible scars?

As the procedure involves incisions, you will have scars. The incision sites can be from the groin to the knee or just along the groin crease. The incision pattern will depend on the location of skin excess. The beauty of the procedure is that with time, the scars fade, and you are left with a thinner, trimmer thigh area for the long term.

How long will the results of a thigh lift last?

If you continue to maintain a healthy weight, care for yourself by eating a healthy diet and engaging in regular exercise, your results will last for years. No surgery can completely halt the aging process, but your results should last many, many years and can be enhanced with non-surgical techniques.
