Get to Know BodyTite
BodyTite is a relatively new procedure that we’ve incorporated into our plastic surgery practice in The Woodlands. Dr. Kim is very selective about the techniques and procedures she chooses to adopt, which makes BodyTite so exciting—it does what it promises, without scars. Because BodyTite is still an emerging procedure, there is a lot of information that potential patients should know when deciding whether it’s the right fit for them.
What Is BodyTite?
BodyTite is a minimally invasive option to tighten skin and reduce fat. It uses an advanced iteration of radiofrequency energy to directly destroy fat cells where it’s administered. The energy also has the added benefit of tightening skin and stimulating the body’s natural development of collagen, creating an overall result that showcases less fat and tighter skin—a truly comprehensive improvement.
The technology used in BodyTite is can be manipulated to treat areas throughout both the body and the face. The BodyTite and FaceTite devices have been thoughtfully designed to treat with precision the body parts most affected by sagging skin. People often choose BodyTite to treat areas affected by having children or weight loss. Popular treatment areas include the following:
- Jowls and jawline
- Neck
- Thighs
- Abdomen
- Back
- Upper arms
Both the BodyTite and FaceTite devices work in similar ways. While your treatment area is locally anesthetized, Dr. Kim makes a very small incision. She then inserts the probe, which is a long, thin wand that emits radiofrequency energy to the fat and other underlying structures. The heat generated during the procedure breaks down the fat and makes it easier to gently suction away. Meanwhile, the external portion of the device moves over the outside of your skin, transmitting radiofrequency energy for a “double dose” of tightness.
Why Get BodyTite?
BodyTite is a less invasive version of liposuction, and for many patients it’s a good match for treating mild or moderate fat deposits and loose skin. Because of its less-invasive technique, BodyTite requires only a small amount of downtime.
Additionally, less trauma to surrounding tissues means less swelling, which allows you to see and appreciate your results sooner. Typically, results appear within about a week. Perhaps best of all, the incisions made during a BodyTite treatment are so small that it doesn’t leave behind any discernible scarring.
Other Options
BodyTite is only one option in the world of body contouring. Many other choices exist, and each can be customized to your needs. Depending on your specific complaints and your desired results, Dr. Kim may recommend one of the following alternatives:
- Liposuction: Traditional liposuction is a good option for larger-volume fat reduction or treating areas where BodyTite is not appropriate. Although liposuction is not a weight loss procedure, it can remove larger amounts of fat.
- Tummy tuck: This procedure’s main objectives are to reduce excess skin, improve the condition of the abdominal muscles, and reduce small areas of fat. Tummy tuck is the preferred treatment option for significant skin laxity.
- Body contouring after weight loss: Dr. Kim offers a number of “lifting” procedures that are intended to streamline and improve the body’s dimensions if a significant weight loss leaves excess skin behind.
